Anti-Generative AI Policy

Effective Date: July 10, 2026Last Updated: July 10, 2026

1. Purpose & Scope

FairFate is a marketplace built by and for independent tabletop RPG creators. This policy establishes our position on generative AI content across the platform and applies to all users, including creators, publishers, and buyers.

This policy covers all content uploaded to, generated for, or sold through FairFate, including but not limited to:

  • Product artwork (covers, interior illustrations, maps, tokens)
  • Written content (adventures, rule systems, lore, flavor text, descriptions)
  • Store page assets (banners, logos, promotional images)
  • Audio and video content bundled with products

2. Selling AI-Generated Content Is Not Allowed

FairFate does not permit the sale of AI-generated content. Products listed on this marketplace must be the result of human creative effort. If a product is found to contain AI-generated material as a core deliverable, it will be removed and the creator’s account will be subject to the enforcement actions described in Section 4.

This applies regardless of whether the AI-generated content is:

  • Sold as-is
  • Modified, filtered, or post-processed after generation
  • Combined with human-created content in a way that misrepresents the nature of the work
  • Offered for free as part of a product bundle or storefront

3. Prohibited Content

The following are prohibited on FairFate:

  • AI-generated artwork produced by image generation models (e.g., Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, DALL-E, or derivatives), whether used as final assets or as base material for further editing
  • AI-generated written content produced by large language models and sold as original creative work without meaningful human authorship
  • AI-generated music, audio, or voice content produced by generative audio models and sold as original work
  • Misleading attribution — presenting AI-generated content as human-created, or failing to disclose AI involvement where partial AI assistance was used in production

3.1 Permitted Use of AI Tools

The following uses are permitted, provided they are disclosed:

  • Spell-checking, grammar correction, and formatting tools that do not generate substantive creative content
  • Layout and typesetting automation (e.g., automated PDF generation from authored content)
  • Reference and research — using AI tools to brainstorm or research, provided the final published content is written by the creator
  • Accessibility tools — AI-powered text-to-speech, alt-text generation, or translation aids applied to human-authored content

Creators must disclose any AI-assisted production workflows in their product descriptions when AI tools contributed to the creative process beyond the permitted uses listed above.

4. Rationale

FairFate exists to support human creators and the labor they invest in their craft. Generative AI models are trained on datasets that include copyrighted works harvested without consent, compensation, or attribution. Permitting AI-generated content on this platform would:

  1. Undermine creator livelihoods — flooding the marketplace with low-cost generated content devalues original human work
  2. Erode buyer trust — purchasers on FairFate expect to support independent creators, not purchase machine output
  3. Create legal risk — the copyright status of AI-generated works remains unsettled across jurisdictions; FairFate will not expose its creators or buyers to this ambiguity
  4. Violate community values — the TTRPG community is built on collaborative human creativity; this policy reflects that principle

5. Enforcement

5.1 Detection

FairFate relies on its community and moderation team to identify AI-generated content:

  • Community Reporting — users may flag suspected AI-generated content via the product reporting interface
  • Manual Review — all flagged content is reviewed by the FairFate moderation team

5.2 Consequences

Violations of this policy will result in escalating enforcement actions:

Violation Action
First offense Content removed; creator notified with explanation
Second offense Content removed; 30-day publishing suspension; formal warning
Third offense Permanent account suspension and removal of all listings
Fraudulent attribution Immediate permanent ban; affected buyers notified and eligible for refund

FairFate reserves the right to bypass the escalation sequence for egregious or clearly intentional violations (e.g., bulk uploading AI-generated products, misrepresenting AI output as hand-drawn artwork).

5.3 Appeals

Creators who believe their content was incorrectly flagged may submit an appeal by contacting support@fairfate.com with:

  • The product ID in question
  • Evidence of human authorship (e.g., process screenshots, layered source files, sketches, drafts)
  • A written statement affirming the work is original

Appeals are reviewed within 10 business days.

6. Creator Attestation

By publishing a product on FairFate, creators affirm that:

  1. All artwork, writing, and creative content in the product is primarily the result of human creative effort
  2. No generative AI models were used to produce final assets included in the product, except as permitted under Section 3.1
  3. They have the rights to all content included in the product, and such content does not infringe on the intellectual property of others

This attestation is incorporated into the FairFate Terms of Service.

7. Policy Updates

This policy may be updated as the legal and technological landscape evolves. Material changes will be announced via:

  • Email notification to all registered creators
  • A banner on the FairFate dashboard
  • An entry in the FairFate changelog

Continued use of the platform after policy updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
