Digital Products Cannot Be “Returned”

Unlike physical goods, digital products cannot be physically returned once delivered. However, FairFate offers refund options and access controls to manage unwanted digital purchases.

What Happens When You “Return” a Digital Product

Library Removal

If a refund is approved:

  1. Product removed from library - you lose access immediately
  2. Downloads disabled - cannot re-download
  3. Bundle items - entire bundle removed (cannot keep partial)
  4. Refund only available if not yet downloaded - once downloaded, no refunds

Access Verification

  • Products: Access revoked from your library immediately
  • Third-party integrations: Disconnected where applicable

Quick Eligibility Check

Eligible for Return:

  • Not yet downloaded
  • Technical defect or corruption
  • Significantly misrepresented
  • Duplicate purchase
  • Within 14 days of purchase

Not Eligible for Return:

  • Already downloaded and used
  • Changed mind after reading/viewing
  • Beyond 14-day window (unless defective)
  • Sale items (unless defective)
  • Custom/commissioned content

Return Process

Step 1: Request Return

  • Go to Order History
  • Click “Request Refund” on eligible order
  • Select reason: Technical issue, misrepresentation, etc.
  • Submit request

Step 2: Review

  • Automatic approval: Clear-cut cases (e.g., duplicate purchase)
  • Manual review: Quality concerns, compatibility issues
  • Timeline: 24-48 hours for decision
  • Notification: Email sent with decision

Step 3: Confirmation

If approved:

  • Refund processed - see Refund Policy for timelines
  • Library updated - product removed immediately
  • Receipt sent - email confirmation of return
  • Feedback request - help us improve (optional)

Partial Returns (Bundles)

Cannot Return Individual Items

Bundles are sold as a package:

  • All-or-nothing: Must return entire bundle
  • No cherry-picking: Cannot keep favorite items
  • Exception: If one item is defective, we may offer partial refund while keeping access

Bundle Return Process

  1. Request return for bundle (not individual items)
  2. Specify reason for returning entire bundle
  3. All items removed from library if approved
  4. Refund based on bundle price paid (not individual prices)

Exchange Options

Product Exchanges

FairFate doesn’t offer traditional “exchanges” but:

Wrong Edition:

  • Return original → Refund → Purchase correct edition
  • OR Contact support for direct swap (faster)

Wrong Format: If creator offers multiple formats:

  • Return unwanted format
  • Purchase correct format
  • OR Some creators offer free format conversions

Language/Version:

  • Return incorrect version
  • Receive refund
  • Purchase correct version

Gift Returns

Gift Recipient Returns

  • Cannot return gifts - only purchaser can request refund
  • Contact gift giver to request they initiate return
  • Exception: Defective products can be reported by recipient

Gift Giver Returns

  • Before redemption: Full refund available
  • After redemption: Treated as standard return (14-day window applies)
  • Gift code unused: Full refund, code invalidated

Creator-Specific Return Policies

Some creators offer extended return options:

Creator Guarantees

  • Satisfaction guarantees: “Love it or money back” (creator’s choice)
  • Extended windows: Some allow >14 days
  • No-questions-asked: Creator may approve all returns

FairFate Protection

Even if creator has “no returns” policy:

  • Defective products: FairFate guarantees refund
  • Fraud/misrepresentation: FairFate guarantees refund
  • Abandoned support: FairFate may approve return

What You Cannot Return

All digital products are non-returnable once downloaded. This applies to all file types and formats:

Digital content - PDFs, videos, audio files, software, images, maps, tokens • Custom/Commissioned work - Personalized content created specifically for you • Time-limited content - Event tickets (after event), beta/early access (once accessed) • Third-party integrations - Products imported to VTT platforms or external tools

Exceptions: Defective files, significantly misrepresented products, or duplicate purchases may qualify for refunds under our Refund Policy.

Fraudulent Returns

Return Abuse

FairFate monitors for return abuse:

Warning signs:

  • Excessive return rate (>50% of purchases)
  • Pattern of returning after full use
  • Serial refund requests across different accounts
  • Keeping downloaded files after return

Consequences:

  1. Return privileges revoked
  2. Account flagged for review
  3. Possible account termination

Good Faith Returns

We understand legitimate reasons:

  • Technical issues on your device
  • Misunderstood product description
  • Changed gaming system/campaign
  • Financial hardship

Be honest, and we’ll work with you.

International Returns

Currency Refunds

  • Same currency: Refunded in original payment currency
  • Exchange rate: Rate at time of refund (may differ from purchase)
  • Conversion fees: Absorbed by FairFate

Regional Restrictions

If product becomes unavailable in your region:

  • 30-day return window from restriction date
  • Full refund regardless of download status
  • Notification: Email sent before restriction takes effect

Consumer Rights

Your statutory rights are not affected by this policy:

EU Distance Selling

  • 14-day cooling off period applies
  • Right to return digital content (with waiver acknowledged)
  • Full refund within 14 days of approval

UK Consumer Rights

  • Faulty digital content: Repair, replacement, or refund
  • Not as described: Partial or full refund
  • Consumer guarantees cannot be excluded

Australian Consumer Law

  • Major failure: Full refund or replacement
  • Minor problem: Repair, replacement, or compensation
  • Consumer guarantees apply
